Quick Start Guide

The Web Site is designed to be simple and easy to use. You won't find Banner Ads, Pop-up Ads or flashy graphics. The following is what you can expect from Brushwood:

Our Web Site (Catalog) uses a standard Shopping Cart with a Secure Server for your protection. When you find a plant you want, simply click on the Add to Cart button and you will be directed to your virtual Shopping Cart. From there you may select a quantity and continue shopping or check out. As you continue shopping, you will be directed to the Cart each time where you may make any changes at any time. When you are finished, just click "Check Out" and you will be asked for your shipping and payment information. We have a very secure server to accept major credit cards On-Line. You may also pay through your Paypal account or send a check in the mail. If you'd like to use your credit card but you don't want to send it through the internet, there's even an option to Fax your information to us! Just follow the instructions on the Shopping Cart for all of the options listed above. You will also be asked for a Delivery Date request. We ship actively growing plants; not dormant ones. Please select a date after your last frost for best results.

Shipping opens in March. We will hold your plants in our climate-controlled greenhouses until your delivery date. Some orders may be available sooner. If possible, we may be able to ship earlier at your request. Actual shipping dates depend on weather conditions and are subject to change. At times we will put a later availability date on some items to be sure they will be fully grown before we send them to you. Your other plants may be held until all of them are ready to send, but we'll always inform you of their status.

Your plants will be inspected and packaged by hand. We grow all of our own material to assure quality. Each plant will be accurately labeled and in a pot of its own to protect the root system. We use recycleable packing to help protect the environment.

Most orders are shipped via UPS Ground or Priority Mail through the United States Postal Service. This allows us to ship to ALL addresses. They have proven to be very reliable for our packages. If you have any difficulty with these services, we can make special arrangements to ship with another carrier. There is a flat fee of $10 for packaging and shipping your order. Discounts for larger orders will reduce or eliminate the fee entirely! Order 3 plants and get $5 off, 6 plants and get $10 off. If you order 9 plants you'll get $15 off your order!

When your package arrives, remove your plants and give them a drink right away. This is important even if they look wet on the surface. It also helps to draw fresh oxygen to the roots as water drains out the bottom of the pots.

Plant as soon as possible. Clematis should be planted a couple of inches lower than the old soil line to have one or two buds underground. We grow all of our Clematis with a node below the ground, but we'd like you to do the same to assure your vine's future success! Other vines may be planted at the same depth as the original soil line. Planting instructions can be found right here on the web site.
