Franczak, Poland, 1989. Clematis Emilia Plater is a newer hybrid with a likely heritage including viticella. This makes it vigorous and gives it a long blooming period from mid-summer into fall. The pale, violet flowers are about 4 inches across and they bloom in masses that can cover the top of the entire vine! Emilia Plater was a famous Polish freedom fighter in the 19th century.
